The NRCHC Counselling & Casework Program provides five main services with support from a range of government and non-government funding providers. The program has been operating since the beginning of the centres and has grown and adapted to the changing local needs of the community. Currently the team is made up of 8 people, trained and experienced in the in the particular discipline required for the activities undertaken.
The program operates from a client and culturally centred practice, and articulates its Aim as: to provide client centred and culturally and linguistically sensitive counselling and casework services, advocacy and support programs that promote self determination and lead to opportunities that enable individuals to reach their potential.
Services provided, criteria for service and contact details for the Counselling & Casework Program are as follows:
Social / Welfare Work Service 1 person (DHS Community Health Program funded)
- This service provides a range of counselling & casework services to individuals, families and groups
- Bilingual worker: Timorese Hakka and Mandarin speaking backgrounds.
- Interpreters are available on request both on site and by telephone for different language groups
- Criteria for service: people who live in, work in or have significant links to the City of Yarra
Vietnamese & Chinese Settlement Service 1 person (DIMA funded)
- This service provides settlement support to individuals, families and groups. It aims to assisting people gain assess to mainstream services, build community links and networks assisting them through their settlement experience by providing short term individual and family assistance (including assessment and referral), secondary consultation to other service providers and education on migration issues, and supports a range of community groups including the elderly Chinese group, young mothers group, and Tai Chi group.
- Bilingual worker: Vietnamese, Cantonese & Mandarin
- Criteria for service: Newly arrived within Australia (within first 5 years) and from a Vietnamese & Chinese speaking background
Youth Work Service 1 person (City of Yarra & DHS Community Health Program)
- This services provides Individual support to young people 13-25 years and their families and recreation & support programs. Current groups and activities include 3 team sports groups a week.
- Bilingual worker: interpreters available on request
- Criteria for service: people who live in, work in or have significant links to the City of Yarra
HARP HiT Community Case Manager 1 person ( St Vincent's Partnership / DHS funded)
- Supporting people who have frequently present at the Accident & Emergency department of Saint Vincent's Hospital. Providing an intensive case management / support service to individuals and families amid at linking people into appropriate local services.
- Bilingual worker: interpreters available on request
- Criteria for service:, people, who live in, work in or have significant links to the City of Yarra.

Referrals are made directly with the appropriate worker:
Family Therapy Service 1 person (DHS Community Health Program funded)
- This service provides one evening a week family therapy (Mondays 3-7pm).
- Bilingual worker: interpreters available on request
- Criteria for service: people who live in, work in or have significant links to the City of Yarra
